Hi Karen

When I sourced the photo for the group it mentioned that it is a traditional tool for making glass beads, and "Betty Box" is an Americanization of the German "Besser" box.

My efforts to learn more have ended with many sites in German, which I can't read. I too would like to know more as I would love to build one if I can

Jeff,

I think there are a couple lampworkers on LE from Germany, they might be able to help and there are translation sites on the web too. Just plug in the url on those sites.
