Beader's Showcase

"A Place for all Beaders to Showcase their Creations."

Hi Everyone,
I just found this great website and thought I would try this forum. I am looking to learn how to make Resin Bubble Art Charms. Here is an example of one from Etsy. This designer makes some really cute ones.

I think they are resin casting with a soldered edge, but I could be wrong. I would really like to learn to make them.

I agree with you, they do appear to be resin but I think the picture is added to them while still in the molds with a foil backing. They are very cute!! wouldn't mind finding out how to make them either!!!

Hi Kim,
I had emailed the girl on Etsy who is making those and she was nice enough to give me some info on how to make them. Here is a website where you can purchase the kit: www.simplyswank.net. She said she had to work out the kinks as she went and different soldering iron as it didn't really get hot enough. It comes with a dvd, so that helps me a lot!!

I don't see a kit on there with resin. I see the soldering stuff and the glass, but maybe I'm missing the resin? Is that from a different site or book?

You know I didn't either, but without having the book or dvd, I thought maybe I'm missing something. I will have to contact her again and double check. Maybe they are glass.

Thanks so much!! I will look into it!!! but something like that will have to wait till the youngest is in school full time!!! She wants to do everything I do!!!

Hi Kim,
she did let me know they are glass. I found a few places on Etsy that have the glass rounds on there and they are pretty cheap. I am going to see if I have enough supplies this weekend to get started on the soldered charms. I will have to wait to get some round glass for the bubbles. We'll see.

Now I might be thinking the bubbles are made of glass. Here is a store in Etsy that has the round glass.

We also have "crystal resin misteress" on our Czech "Etsy" named Fler They create their pendants or earrings from This It is something like epoxy resin - you have to mixt two parts together, put it into the molds and then wait 24 hours for hardening. I dont know, when they lay the paper with graphic motiff - if befor hardening, or after. You can put into the mold with soft resin also small objects - for example maden from FIMO.

I'm really enjoying experimenting with resin at the moment, although I haven't made anything worthing of photographing yet!
If you're starting out I recommend Sherri Haab's book (you can see her books here http://www.sherrihaab.com/index.php?generalbooks). Not all of the projects are to my taste but the book is fantastic for learning some of the most important techniques. She shows how to use resin with fimo, with sweets even, with paper and also how to make your own molds.
Have fun!

Thank you. I believe I did take a look at the book review but haven't purchased it yet. I have been so busy moving, I haven't done anything to get started yet. I will be glad when things settle down a bit.

This is a fun thread and something I've always been interested in. I need to pull myself away from glass long enough to try it. Thanks so much for everyone's input.
