Beader's Showcase

"A Place for all Beaders to Showcase their Creations."

Ok, I will admit it. I operate under the philosophy of "those who are organized are too lazy to look for things"

If this is true, than I must be the most industrious, least lazy person you will come across!

Seems I spend 1/2 my beading time looking for things. My Delica stash is well organized, by number...but everything else...well lets just say I could be burried by beads and no one would find me for a month!

How many times have I given up, and just ordered more of the bead I was looking for? More times than I care to admit.

This morning. I spent an HOUR looking for some beads I KNOW I have. Yes, I finally did find them....only to decide they wont work for my project I am working on.

Ok...I am off to look for something else.... :)

OK I had the same problem so I went to manards and bought these. I call them Bead holders. They were $16.00 only at manards but at Lowe's they were$22.00. Trust me my beads are not totally organized but the are easy to find. Not only that they have large drawers and I put my wire, pendents My Dremil drill bits in them. I love them.
On the other side of my room I took my closet doors of and put a large shelve unit in my closet. Well go figure I have more bead holders units in there. As far as my seed beads go I have the in the closet on the shelve in the clear plastic see through Tubes that screw on top of each other. I bought them at Fleet + farm. They come in different sizes. They are in the fishing area at my store. They are wonderful. You can see the blue bins in the picture. They are empty because I am still organizing my stuff. That is what I used to use.
Just some ideas for you.
The only reason I don't like my bead holders is that my Husband can see pretty much what I have.

Thanks for your studio view!

Here is my VERY VERY messy "Studio" (a dinning room that never served that purpose!). I am finishing up 3 new kits for my website, so its ALWAYS chaos when I am at this stage..then once I am done kitting, It all gets put away and cleaned. So you are seeing it at its absolute worst!

The white boxes on the shelf in the back (they are 2 deep) is my back up stock of Delicas. All in numeric order. In the set of drawers is my "working" supply of Delicas, again, all in numeric order. Each drawer holding flip top boxes. The last pic is of one of the drawers opened.

You can see all the bins of beads. Under both my work desk and computer desk, on the shelves...then there are the plastic compartment boxes. Most contain beads haphazardly. Some contain the beads needed for the kits I make...all in one handy box...but since there is overlap of one type of bead used in several kits....who knows where those beads are!

All the books you see are bead books, jewelry books and design books (my cook books number even more and are in a different area of the house)

The small perch you see on my work desk is where my African Grey sits while I bead. She loves to sit there watching me. She's the only one I know that thinks beading is a contact sport!

Your organization is much better than mine, but I've only been beading for 2 1/2 years! The only suggestion I would make is taping or wiring beads to the top of the boxes to see what they are, or transfer them to clear cases so you can see what you have. Most of my beads are in clear bags with the original description labels inside so I know what I have. Good luck!

I'm too ashamed to show you a pic of my studio, and your right, I could find everything I need if I was willing to dig through my table etc, even the floor is covered, I just need a bigger room, thats all. The other table I have is my lampworking table, and beside that is the kiln, my fusing room with my other kiln is in the basement in a room with the furnace. So......................all that leads to is confusion and just shutting the door and not letting anyone in there. Tho when I am in a creative mood, my two dogs...Henry(weiner dog0 and Sebastion (white yorkie poo), they don't mind the mess, they just find a spot big enough to lie on and wait for me to stop. I personally think Jill's pic looks pretty good, at least her desk is clear. This is the funny thing tho, the rest of my house is perfect, I just can't seem to keep this one clean and organized. I think I read somewhere that "Artist's"- are sloppy, at least that is what I'm going to keep on believing. hee hee. Deb
