Beader's Showcase

"A Place for all Beaders to Showcase their Creations."

Which to do? I am currently pulling more towards bead embroidery esp after taking a class with Robin Atkins. After last year I did so much bead embroidery, I needed a refresher in bead weaving! Amazing how the mind switches.

Here are the two bead cuffs I did (also included in my album). I did them right after each other and was pleased with the results.

Oh, my. Those two cuffs are absolutely stunning!

Why does it have to be an either/or decision - embroidery or weaving? I do mostly bead embroidery but do peyote woven straps to a lot of necklaces, and right now I'm working on something that begins with sleek, smooth bead embroidery and then breaks into big sculptural peyote ruffles. Just do whatever your heart inclines you toward on each project!

I agree that it doesn't have to be an either/or question. Sometimes I fight with myself on a project in waiting. I do both and sometimes wish I could clone myself so I could do all the projects I have in store. There's enough for a lifetime of beading. :)

Lovely work...so keep doing bead embroidery. If I can't make my mind up between two things, I do both. No reason you can't incorporate bead weaving with bead embroidery. I do it all the time.

I love the frog cuff, the copperish beads do a nice job framing froggie! The face cuff is new I hope you bring it to our bead meeting this Wednesday, photos never do a piece justice.

I love both of these. Very impressive. I agree with everyone, do both. You could do a bead embroidered center, tne bead woven straps on each side.

Gorgeous work!!

I echo the majority on this one.... "why not do both?" I'm personally jumping ALL over the place, LOL. I started w/wire work, now I'm learning to weave, and tomorrow I'm taking an embroidery class! I want to know how to do it all... it's so much fun!! :) Good luck!

Thanks Carol. I also started with wire work many moons ago. Been weaving for close to 10 years now and doing the embroidery just about as long. I also like book arts and incorporate beadwork w/it. lol! Beads are so beautiful and enjoyable. Can't get enough!

I hear you.... loud and clear.... and I'm with you..... ALL THE WAY!! I can't get enough either, but I suppose it's better than some other addiction? ;-) My embroidery class went well yesterday. I enjoyed it. Now, I'll have to purchase MORE books, LOL. Every time I learn a new technique.... I buy more books, and tools, and beads, and this and that.... LOL! I hear you Victoria!!! =]

Those cuffs are gorgeous. I too sway between weaving and embroidery. I am trying to increase my skills in weaving so have been doing a bit of work with that lately but I have to say I still love my bead embroidery and am currently working on two pieces.
