Other beading activities you enjoy or want to learn about?
I would love to take a class in Precious Metal Clay, it's on my list of things 'to do' in 2009. Occasionally when my bead making mojo leaves me I have a play and make some jewellery, I'm a bracelet addict.
About Me:
I was born in Yorkshire in 1971 where I lived for a short while before moving several times with my family - including Wiltshire, Hampshire and Northamptonshire before finally settling back in Yorkshire, where after a few local moves I landed in Auckley, just outside Doncaster in South Yorkshire. I've lived here since 2004 with my Husband Paul, and our two Daughters Libby aged 6 and Eivie aged 4.
As for lampworking ~ I'm hooked, I absolutely love it! I discovered it in 2006, I bought several books about the art from Amazon, and after thumbing through them constantly until the pages were worn I bought all the kit I needed and just got started, that was it! So far I am totally self-taught, I've enjoyed figuring things out by myself, there have been numerous disasters along the way, but the satisfaction in finally getting it right is what I really love. All that said I am constantly inspired by the amazing work of other artists, and do plan to attend some workshops in the future.
After years of searching for a way to express myself creatively I've finally found my calling, lampworking gives me the opportunity to zone out, work with amazing colours and take some time out from my other life as a mum, a wife and a Project Manager for a local hospital.
I've recently relocated from the kitchen (yes you read that correctly!) to my studio (posh for converted shed !!), and it's fantastic, I can get away and I have everything in one place, it's perfect.
I hope you enjoy my work, I've spent hours admiring everyone elses, these sites are great and I hope to make some new beady buddies.
Hi Kate

Thank you for the lovely comments - one thing I will say from her tutorial - if you're going for the "hour glass" figure is to heat & turn very slowly!! I was going too fast till I actually saw her demo!!
I had such fun at Sarah's Class - I did 2 days, and my head is buzzing with so may new techniques & ideas! I have the Think Pink book, but watching her work was soooo helpful!
