Other beading activities you enjoy or want to learn about?
I also enjoy updating my lampwork blog: http://etsy-lampwork.blogspot.com/ when I get the chance. I'd love to do more electroforming and silver work and even PMC work, but I never have the time.
If you're on Facebook, please feel welcome to add me as a friend.
About Me:
I am a 49yr old mother of 3 and wife to my husband Ken for 30 yrs. I live in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, Canada. The area is well known for it's pristine lakes, rolling hills filled with vineyards and fruit trees and it's bountiful beaches and warm weather. No better place to be inspired.
I work out of my home based studio, on two acres filled with nut trees, blackberries, fruit trees, a natural spring and pond, which overlook the valley and lake. Our property is a favorite with many wild birds especially the quail, stellar jays who steal our nuts, ravens, woodpeckers and a resident pair of pheasant. It's not a suprise to see deer roaming the property, racoons, or coyotes (who have built a den and given birth to pups the last two years. It's been a joy watching them progress from tiny pups to young adults.
I spend my days tending to my outdoor avery filled with yellow and red canaries, my dog Rocko always at my feet, doing household chores, spending time with my family but more often making beautiful beads.
I was born in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory of Canada. I was also married there and raised my family there. I attended school in the Yukon as well as British Columbia, Canada. In high school I took every possible art class available. One of my art teachers was the well known Canadian Artist, Ted Harrison.
Unlike most students who took art because it was an easy out. I took it because I loved art. I was fortunate enough to have attended a senior high school that offered a large variety of art classes. More than your typical high school art classes. I was exposed to many mediums. Silk screening, pottery, enamel jewelry making, charcoal and pastel, painting, drawing, textiles work, such as batiking, photography, applied design and so much more.
However the one medium that I was not exposed to was lampworking. The art of which I now work with. I was only introduced to lampworking 7 yrs ago. I immediately embraced it and turned it into a full time business and a passion.
I create cancer awareness bracelets with my beadsfor my website www.BeadsForACure.com. I also sell my beads seperately on Etsy as well as on Ebay to jewelry designers, bead collectors and fabric artists, within Canada, United states and abroad.
My business has been featured on television on CBC News Morning, "Valley Views" hosted by celebrity Pattie Carson-Daly, and published in magazines: BC Business magazine, Beyond 50 magazine, Canadian Diamond magazine and Alive magazine. With a feature story in BeadingTimes.com.
I also enjoy photography, sailing and being outdoors appreciating the fresh air and views. And of coarse spending time with my family.
I love to travel and would love to teach if anyone ever found me worthy enough. I've published 4 tutorials on my techniques over the last year and plan on publishing a few more.
I've taught private classes in my home studio and hope to do more once my new studio is finished.
Lampworking is an art process of making glass beads using a hot torch. I use a variety of glass from Italy, Germany and the US. After creating a glass piece, it is placed in a digitally controlled kiln to properly anneal. This ensures strength and durability and color fastness in the glass.
I have to say that after over 17 years, thousands of shows, seeing just as many lampwork beaders, these are the most exquiste I have ever seen, you can see a piece of your heart goes into each and every one. I am rarrely speechless when it comes to viewing someones work, but yours did just that!

Wow! Thank you everyone for your wonderful compliments. I'm so pleased that you all enjoy viewing the goodies!
I apologize for not coming in sooner and more often to thank everyone. I'm so busy I rarely get a chance to just enjoy all the forums lately. But wanted to let you know I do appreciate you all taking the time to comment, and again I apologize for not thanking each and everyone of you individually. I really do need to get in here more often to view all the wonderful work that everyone is doing.
