Even without the title you would see the Picasso influence in these pieces. Wonderful thought inspiring art.
Is this your own design?
These pieces are all my own design.
How did you choose a title for the piece and what was your main inspiration?
Both the title and the inspiration just came from my love of Picasso's work and, in fact, the title came before the pieces! I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I got my hands on the red buttons, red being my fav color. The idea just came to me in a flash, of course, early one morning. Sometimes the best designs just come to you whole and these pendants came to me in one finished idea.
Did it all go to plan and are you happy with the result?
So deciding to use the beads and wire combo took a few passes. But my concept as sketched out worked just as I hoped it would.
How long did it actually take you to create?
They did not take long to create the tricky part was attaching the arms and legs so they would move, movement in these pendants was very important.
Is there anything special about the materials or techniques you used?
I use milagros a lot in my designs and really try to use them in as many pieces as I can so I had the perfect faces and body parts.
Is there anything you would do differently?
There really is nothing I would do differently with either of these pendants. I just love them. They make me smile and laugh really and for me that is the test of how successful my design as been and an idea of how other people will respond to a jewelry piece.
Finally, is there anything else about the piece you think members may find interesting?
I have in the past year or so started to use buttons in many of my designs also. In fact I have just started a new line of jewelry that I intend to put up on Etsy this week. It will be called Buttons Without Buttonholes. Right now I have a whole series of pendants, bracelets, and some necklaces that I will offer for sale at a reasonable price. I believe that Picasso Man and Woman helped me really move into this new direction.
I hope people enjoy the pendants or they can be made as pins. Even if someone did not want to wear the piece I hope they enjoy seeing it and appreciate the pendants tribute to a fantasitc artist that is Picasso, not me, yet).
